This Sabbath evening I began reading History of the Sabbath by J.N. Andrews, a facsimile reproduction of the 1887 third edition. It is the first in a group of Sabbath-related books I picked up earlier this week at the Potomac Adventist Book Center for a mixture of pleasure reading and research material.

Thus far, I have only managed to read the Preface and already I am amazed at the clarity, candor, and depth. I have decided to share with you the Preface and to reproduce it exactly as it appeared in the 1887 3rd Edition.

On the last day of the 2010 GYC Conference “No Turning Back” in Baltimore, Maryland, directly after the final message was shared, my sister and I both received surprise gifts. For volunteering our time at the GYC to help in various areas, we were given a GYC bag, a DVD copy of the 2009 “In the beginning God Created” sermon by David Asscherick (Click here for more information.), and a book titled For This Purpose: A compilation of sermons and presentations from GYC.

GYC Reflection: On Prayer

The GYC was a life-transforming experience. Every message that was shared, every seminar taught, every workshop held was carefully prepared and structured to edify our beliefs, equip us in our daily lives, and re-affirm our dependence and devotion to our Lord. Wow! The GYC conference is such an amazing blessing. My mind is still spinning from yesterday. I am so glad that the Holy Spirit impressed upon us to attend this year, and I now see why people attend every year. Jessica and I are having a fantastic experience attending a wonderful seminar, meeting new people in our general age group, being able to share, networking, and volunteering in various places. Jessi is helping during the meals, which are serving nearly 2,000 conference attendees for breakfast and lunch. That is a lot of people to get through a massive room with ...
