In the Footsteps of Paul

Cover for In the Footsteps of Paul workbook. In the Footsteps of Paul with Tony Moore is a fascinating journey that takes you back in time. With this twenty episode series, filmed on location in Turkey, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Greece, and Italy, you see the real places Paul visited on his missionary journeys and discover the cultural context in which the majority of the New Testament was written. You travel to Tarsus where Paul was born, Jerusalem where he was schooled, Damascus where he was converted, Antioch where he was sent out as an apostle, Athens where he witnessed before the Supreme Court, and Rome where his earthly journey ended.

This series is more than your usual Bible study. [Click here to view video clips!] I have read and reread the New Testament dozens of times, and I thought I understood the writings of Paul well enough. The epistles of Paul are often the foundation for arguments among Christians, debates over various doctrines, and many have come away misunderstanding his writings. For example, many Christians believe that Paul speaks harshly about women.

In 2 Peter 3:15-16, Peter wrote of Paul and his writings: “And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”

With In the Footsteps of Paul, you are transported back into Paul’s day and shown the world through Paul’s unique point-of-view. Paul, a devote Jew of the Tribe of Benjamin, grew up in Tarsus, the third largest city in the Roman Empire. He was a Pharisee through and through, but he could function in the world of commerce and was a full-fledged Roman citizen, which meant he was free to travel the Empire, have a fair trial, and could not be crucified. You see the historical context in which he wrote his letters to the churches of Galatia, Philippi, Thessalonica, Ephesus, etc. Once you understand the context, you are able to apply the lessons to your own life in the 21st Century.

So I highly encourage you to watch this series whether you catch episodes on Hope Channel or 3 ABN, purchase the series directly from The Biblical World, or attend a seminar.

The Barstow SDA Church is currently hosting a special presentation of In the Footsteps of Paul. If you are in the High Desert area of southern California, I encourage you to came! Visit the church’s website for directions and a schedule.
