“I choose to receive God’s grace today to help me live stress free in the midst of a stressful world.”
In March 2008, I began a brand new job as a Marketing Assistant and Web Designer, and though I had previous jobs, I still felt anxiety and a little overwhelmed. On my first official day in the office, as I was arranging my barren workspace, I noticed that taped up near the desk light, hidden from view unless you are seated in the chair, was a small strip of paper. On it, I read the little prayer: “I choose to receive God’s grace today to help me live stress free in the midst of a stressful world.”
Immediately, my nervousness and worry melted away. In my mind, I recited one of my favorite Scriptures: Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.“ Filled with a peace that is beyond earthly comprehension (Philippians 4:7), I went on to have a great day.
Even in the hectic, stressful moments of life, God often gives us a small reminder of His love for us. We just need to pause, breathe, and know that no matter where we are, what we are doing, or what challenges we face, our Lord is with us always. (Matthew 28:20; Jeremiah 29:11-13)
“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
